Our Philosophy
At Carillon, we believe that neurodiverse students deserve access to a vibrant and challenging educational program that will provide them with strong academic and life skills for navigating the world and achieving their goals.
-
At Carillon, we see students as individuals, not a bloc. Neurodiverse students with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, intellectual and/or emotional disabilities, PANS/PANDAS, or who have no diagnostic label, thrive when instruction is tailored to their individual strengths. We design (and continually re-design) our curriculum and environment for individual students instead of molding students to fit our program.
-
Carillon students achieve success through low staff/student ratios (1:3) which allows us to provide one-on-one instruction daily. Teachers chunk, scaffold, and adapt instruction to fill in learning gaps that have prevented our students’ success in the past. As students experience academic success, their confidence grows, which fuels their desire for further learning.
-
Carillon Academy serves as a bridge between the student and the larger educational world. Individual assessments at the beginning and end of each school year track student learning and help parents keep pace with their child’s learning level in relation to traditional education systems.
-
The environment at Carillon Academy is designed to meet student sensory needs by providing quiet study areas, opportunities to employ regulation strategies, ample movement and outdoor time, and meaningful social interactions. This might look like an elementary student taking a quick run-and-jump break before beginning a writing assignment or a middle school student choosing a comfortable place to work with a classmate on a challenging math assignment.
